How it can be solved

In compatible repairs, the concrete is cut back to sound material, the reinforcement is treated as specified and it is rebuilt with a mortar system suited to the class and exposure conditions.

Tools, products and the access system are chosen according to the substrate and the conditions of the job. Rope access, suspended scaffolding, tube scaffolding or a platform can be used where appropriate; no technique is universally better than the others.

What can go wrong if only the appearance is fixed

Simply applying a product labelled R4 isn't enough without proper design, a suitable substrate and quality control.

On exterior elements we also need to check how water drains away, how the joints behave and what maintenance the finish will need. Preparation and details often determine whether a stain, a crack or a flaking layer comes back.
