Rope access quotes: what they should include

The price of repairing a facade depends on much more than square metres. Height, the access system, the actual condition of the substrate, protection of third parties and the type of finish all shape the job and should appear in a clear quote.

Factors that affect the cost

  • Surface area and areas to be worked on, with measurements and units.
  • Access equipment: rope, suspended scaffolding, tube scaffolding or platform.
  • Actual condition of the substrate and need for repairs.
  • Materials, thicknesses, primers and final finish.
  • Signage, protection of pavements, light wells and neighbours.
  • Waste management, permits and documentation where applicable.
  • Travel and organisation of the work in phases.

How to compare two quotes

Don't just compare the total. Check that both include the same scope and repair system, whether they mention possible hidden damage, which costs are excluded, who handles permits and what the documented warranty conditions are.

Why we avoid making up prices per square metre

A one-off repair from ropes and a large renovation with scaffolding have completely different costs, even if they involve the same type of facade. Publishing a universal figure can be misleading. After looking at photos and the scope, we can assess whether a visit and measurements are needed.
