Work at height

Work at height and difficult access

Solving specific details where access is the deciding factor. Antennas, narrow light wells, high flashings and irregular facades all pose access challenges. The first step is deciding how to work without shifting risks onto workers or users.

What problems we deal with in this job

Areas near power lines, glazing, fragile roofs or public traffic require extra precautions.

An accurate quote describes which areas will be inspected and which could hide damage that is not yet visible. At Build Ararat we don't promise a permanent repair without knowing the cause and the condition of the materials.

What we check before proposing the work

We analyse the surroundings, anchor points, alternative access, the materials needed and any protection required below.

For a first enquiry we recommend sending photos from different angles, the town, the approximate number of floors and the history of the problem. This information helps us prepare the visit, but photos cannot certify the condition of a facade or the safety of its anchors.

Work at height

How it can be solved

The solution may use ropes, aerial work platforms or suitable scaffolding, with a specific method for the repair and a final check.

Tools, products and the access system are chosen according to the substrate and the conditions of the job. Rope access, suspended scaffolding, tube scaffolding or a platform can be used where appropriate; no technique is universally better than the others.

What can go wrong if only the appearance is fixed

Height is not the only variable: the risk and the tasks determine the procedure.

On exterior elements we also need to check how water drains away, how the joints behave and what maintenance the finish will need. Preparation and details often determine whether a stain, a crack or a flaking layer comes back.

How the quote for work at height and difficult access is prepared

There is no single responsible rate for every building. For this job the key factors are: height and actual access to the area; surface area and measurements; condition of the substrate; preparation and protection of third parties. To compare proposals, it helps to list materials, labour, safety measures, access equipment and exclusions separately. See how to request a detailed quote.

Frequently asked questions

Do you always work without scaffolding?

No; we choose the safe and proportionate system.

Can I send photos to help plan the visit?

Yes, they help us understand the area, although they don't replace an inspection.
