The coating or repair work is organised section by section, coordinating protection, traffic and safe dismantling of the scaffolding.
Tools, products and the access system are chosen according to the substrate and the conditions of the job. Rope access, suspended scaffolding, tube scaffolding or a platform can be used where appropriate; no technique is universally better than the others.
What can go wrong if only the appearance is fixed
Scaffolding doesn't remove the need to prevent falling objects and supervise the work.
On exterior elements we also need to check how water drains away, how the joints behave and what maintenance the finish will need. Preparation and details often determine whether a stain, a crack or a flaking layer comes back.
